THE BUILDERS

Jeanson Homes and Fenton Contracting have been in business together for over 30 years and are longtime residents of the area. Imagine their surprise one day in January when they received a call from ABC and the Extreme Makeover Home Edition to tell them that they have been recommended by town officials as the best possible team to take on the challenge of building a home for a neighbor in need. Being active members of the community and hearing the compelling story of the Giunta family, they jumped at this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Mike Jeanson and Jim Fenton have been in business together for over 30 years. Both men were born and raised in Acton, Massachusetts. Jim and Mike, along with their wives, have raised their children in Acton and are active members of the community.

They began their first construction venture in the early seventies. Initially, their projects included additions, renovations and construction of single family homes. Over the years, they have expanded their business and now develop projects ranging from 50 single-family home subdivisions to 30-unit townhouse condominium projects, as well as commercial buildings.

Jim and Mike are hands-on developers from investigating potential building sites, acquiring the land, and working with local planning boards to physical construction. The employees of Jim’s company, James Fenton & Son General Contracting, are responsible for land clearing, road, utility and lot construction on every project. Mike’s company, Jeanson Homes, provides the crew that handles all of the construction framing. Many of the sub-contractors on the projects have worked with Jim and Mike for over 15 years.

Mike's two sons, Michael Jeanson, Jr. (Mickey) and Aaron, have been active in helping to manage Jeanson Homes over the past seven years. Mickey graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2000 with a degree in Economics. While in school, Mickey was active in community service. Aaron graduated from St. Anselm College in 2005 with a degree in Business. While in school, Aaron was team captain for the St. Anselm Hawks football team and was also active in community service. Mickey, along with his wife Jamie, lives in the Acton area; as does Aaron.

Jim's son, Jason, has been an integral part of Fenton & Son General Contracting since he was in high school. Jason attended Minuteman Vocational High School where he specialized in Construction Management. Jason and his wife, Shannon, live in Acton with their four children. Jason is very active in the community as a Pop Warner football and youth hockey coach.
